Freedom - Germany for Tibet, Tibet for the World

Long Live H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama

It was a big gathering - yesterday - May 19th 2008 with H.H. 14th Dalai Lama - in front of the Brandenburg Gate, a historic place and symbol for freedom and unity for all Germans and more than this for all who loves peace, justice and democracy. This Event in Berlin was called: DEUTSCHLAND FÜR TIBET, TIBET FÜR DIE WELT »Germany for Tibet, Tibet for the World«, was receiving visitors from different regions from Germany and other States and Countries and 25.000 friends of H.H. 14th Dalai Lama joined this demonstation for »Free Tibet«. It was organised by the Tibet Initiative Deutschland - TID, the Verein der Tibeter in Deutschland - VTD - and by the encouragement of the Society of Endangered Peoples - Gesellschaft für bedrohte Völker. In their press release you can read that:
»the message of German foreign policy is clear: Human rights and the right of Tibetans to self-determination must be a constitutive component of German-Chinese politics. The address of the Dalai Lama and Dr. Heiner Geissler will present a political climax.

Many famous musicians started this event with own interpretations of the main mantra of all Tibetans »Om Mani Peme Hung« the mantra of Avalokiteshvara - the Lord who looks down who is the bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas and is called Chenrezig in Tibetan. The Dalai Lama is considered by the Gelugpa and many other Tibetan Buddhists to be the primary earthly manifestation of Chenrezig. So the chantings before H.H. 14th Dalai Lama reached this gathering were the best stuff to wait for H.H. 14th Dalai Lama. A singer from »Die Prinzen« opened this event and Ralf Bauer as the moderator was the perfect guy for this job. 2Raumwohnung presented a new song called »Lotus« ... and other musicians gave all the best for H.H. 14th Dalai Lama.

»Amazing Grace in Tibetan « by the tibetan nun Ani Choying Drolma, accompanied by the singer Ray Horton during this solidarity gathering recorded by Miroslav Großer and Om Mani Peme Hung recorded by Jens Mügge.

»Among the populace the mission of the Dalai Lama finds undivided support for a peaceful solution of the political situation in Tibet,« maintains Wolfgang Grader, chairperson of Tibet Initiative Germany. His message is very simple what we can do for Tibet: we can send petitions to our delegates of House of Deputies and hope that we will be more politically involved for Tibet.

Franz Alt - a peace movement campaigner and independent journalist - moderated the speech by H.H. 14th Dalai Lama and presented with clear words the actual situation in Tibet and the historic placement of this gathering.

The speech of H.H. 14th Dalai Lama

In the press release by Tibet Initiative Deutschland - TID you can: «It is a consolation for Tibetans in this time of great emergency that they are backed by so many people, many of whom are well-known public personalities.« At the same time, due to domestic infighting, the Tibet question stands in the background. Tibet doesn’t deserve that. Verbose speculation over the learning aptitude of the Chinese regarding Tibetan politics is no substitute for a foreign policy of political foresight and moral basing. The long-standing German-Chinese human-rights dialogue is an example of such tokenism. »It is time that the many words of German politics finally come to account. The situation in Tibet is dramatic. My people are dying a quiet death. I am thankful for the support of the German people, who in the last days have been visible. This demonstration will send a sign of hope to Tibet and through it strengthen the people in Tibet,« said Lhanzom Everding, chairperson of Tibetans in Germany. Tilman Zülch, General Secretary for the Society of Endangered Peoples - Gesellschaft für bedrohte Völker, calls on the Chinese government to award the Tibetan people political autonomy under Chinese law. Five decades of persecution and suppression with over a million deaths at the abolition of insurrections from 1958-60 are enough. In association with the Tibetan people, China is a backwards nation. Modern states solve differences with smaller populations successfully through the granting of regional autonomy, as for example with Tyrol in Italy and Scotland in Great Britain.«

At the moment when the Dalai Lama arrived for his speech at BRANDENBURGER TOR, the place of this event in Berlin, the stage was surrounded by aproximately 25.000 persons from all ages and origins. On the stage were working many Artists, like Musicians and Singers, also many politicians are present and could speech something about Tibet, they all were very glad to cooperate participating in this visit of Dalai Lama, for Non Violence and for the Peace between Tibet and China. At 17:26 o'clock local time H.H. 14th Dalai was referring to »Non Violence« as an important consciousness for all Tibetan and all peaceful people on the world also in their everyday life, in the family and together with all human beings. He also was talking about the reason to show a Tibetan Flag, about the exposure of the Tibetan Flag as symbol for Peace, Beauty of the Tibetan cultur and its spirituality, and not as a sign of separation and fight. Before that he talked about the importance of praying for all China earthquake victims and also for the people in Birma. He asked everybody not to make any demonstration for Tibet, at least during the next days, in consideration to all these people who are suffering in those regions reached by these calamities and pains.

In no other country in the world are so many people subjected to bestial forms of torture, detained in labour camps and executed. Nowhere else in the world are so many people denied free access to information through the Internet and other media. And nowhere else are ethnic and religious minorities the target of such brutal oppression. NOW is our chance to make China get its act together!
